Patrick Walsh: Boehner played games with the people

October 17, 2013

Say what? They put millions of not just government employees, but also those whose livelihoods depend on the government functioning as it should, out of work. They have crippled a struggling economy. A local example is Yosemite area towns that have lost – and will not recover – millions. They have caused death by withholding medical care and failing to keep our food safe. They have caused anguish to the many people who did not get paid, some who still were working because they were necessary. Millions of senior citizens and disabled, already hit with $4 hamburgers and a big 1.5 percent raise in January, wondering if they will get their checks.

Fortunately, the government employees will receive back pay. I wonder if that is because our representatives’ staffs are included. It’s good to know that despite the horrendous deficit, we can afford to pay for nothing. This has happened before. It will happen again.

John Boehner said, “This is not a game.” He lied! It was a game they played with the American people. They stopped playing when they saw the polls. People have been hurt unnecessarily and know it. They will remember come elections. We’re not as dumb as they think.
