This is one of those weeks in which it’s great to live in the Northern San Joaquin Valley — highs in the 70s with lows in the 50s. National Weather Service forecasters are predicting fairly normal conditions for this time of year for Modesto, with light breezes of up to 7 mph in the afternoon. It’s expected to be more of the same throughout the week, with a few clouds moving in about Wednesday or Thursday. Forecasters say temperatures will rise a bit by midweek, with Wednesday hitting 81 or so. Taking advantage of the mild fall weather, Modesto High School cross-country athletes run at César Chávez Park and near Thurman Field on Monday afternoon as they prepare for upcoming meets.
