MODESTO — It will be the cops vs. the firefighters Oct. 19 when local law enforcement, fire, medical and rescue personnel hold a full-contact football game at the Downey High School Stadium, 1000 Coffee Road in Modesto.
Gates open at 3 p.m., with the game at 5.
The police team will consist of Ceres, Modesto, California Highway Patrol, California Department of Corrections and Stanislaus County peace officers. The fire team will consist of local fire, medical and rescue personnel from local fire and emergency services agencies.
Tickets for the game are tax-deductible and cost $8 pre-sale, $10 at the gate. They may be purchased at the the Ceres and Modesto police departments during normal business hours.
The family-friendly event will include booths from local businesses and vendors, emergency vehicle displays, half-time entertainment, and a raffle with many great prizes. Concessions will be available for purchase.
Proceeds will benefit the local Peace Officers Memorial Group, Inc., as well as the Fire Fighters Widow and Orphans Fund.
