Los Banos police are investigating a suspected gang-related shooting that injured a 30-year-old man Monday morning.

Police received a report of a shooting at an apartment complex on the 300 block of San Juan Avenue at 2:33a.m.

Law enforcement encountered the victim, who had been shot once in the leg. During the course of the investigation, officers said, they learned the victim was approached by a male outside the apartment complex who reportedly confronted the victim about gang-related issues and shot him before leaving the area.

The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital Los Banos, and later flown to a Modesto area hospital where he remains in stable condition. Police said the victim’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Police are withholding details on the shooting but have confirmed that they expect a resolution soon.

“We have strong leads in this case, and our detectives will be following up,” Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr. said.
