Obamacare signed, sealed and delivered

October 8, 2013

The Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, in a nutshell: Can’t be denied for pre-existing conditions; children on parents’ insurance until 26 years old; free women’s wellness checks and yearly physicals; and a requirement to obtain insurance, especially young adults who cost taxpayers millions in ER tax write-offs because they lack insurance.

By having everyone’s skin in the game, it will hopefully drive down insurance premiums. This is far from a socialist takeover. The individual mandate was championed by the conservative Heritage Foundation, which now opposes it. Hmmm, wonder why?

It’s disappointing, but not surprising, that Jeff Denham voted with the tea party circus; but hopefully he’ll see the big picture. Closing the government and furloughing 800,000 workers is idiotic. After seeing signs of recovery, taking this much money out of the economy has already started a domino effect which will eventually affect everyone.

Now Republicans want to negotiate Obamacare? It’s the law of the land, passed by the House and Senate, upheld by the Supreme Court and affirmed with Obama’s re-election. It’s signed, sealed and being delivered. Republicans voted repeatedly to repeal it and this is their Waterloo. Dislike the law? There are constitutional procedures and holding the government hostage isn’t one of them!
