Modesto City Schools holding parents conference

— Modesto City Schools will host a free conference Oct. 19 with workshops for parents of preschool children through high school seniors. The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon in the Modesto High School cafeteria, 18 H St.

Workshops being offered:

• Parental involvement.

• College awareness and preparation.

• Common Core state standards.

• Gang awareness.

• Alcohol and drug awareness.

• Mental health.

• Health, Zumba and more.

Free lunch, tote bag and door prizes are included. The conference is designed to build family, school and community partnerships to advance student learning and achievement, organizers said. Register at the door, beginning at 8:30 a.m. For more information, contact Jorge Perez at (209)595-9654.
