A free screening of “Mother: Caring for 7 Billion” is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday in Forum 110 on the Modesto Junior College East Campus, 435 College Ave. The film, presented by the school’s Civic Engagement Project, examines the impact of population growth on the planet, from the burden it places on the environment to the conditions it produces among the poor. The film looks at the pressing challenges facing the planet and ways to meet them. A discussion will follow the screening. The free event is part of the CEP Fall Film and Lecture Series. Campus parking is available for $1 in student parking lots.
