In response to Tea party legislators domestic enemies? (Oct. 2, Letters): So the tea party legislators are the problem, enemies of this nation? And they may cause our government to default, thereby destabilizing the dollar and our credit rating?
Seems to me that the current administration turning on the printing press, adding $6 trillion in debt, on top of the $4 trillion to $5 trillion in debt Bush added, might be the reason our governments fiscal faith and credibility is in jeopardy. You also forgot to mention that the GOP offered a budget, which was rejected by Harry Reid and Barack Obama.
The two points of contention: They were seeking a one-year delay in implementing Obamacare, something only friends of Obama seem to get (unions, big corporations) and also that Congress should not be excluded. These seem like reasonable requests. Why should only a select few and Congress be excluded?
This law, which 65 percent of Americans dont want, was modified 17 times after it was passed, which violates the Constitution. The tea party legislators offered a compromise. Perhaps Obama should be a leader for once, and not let our government default.
