Calling all mascots for The Salvation Army's kettle event

October 4, 2013

The Salvation Army is gearing up for its holiday fundraising and is seeking mascots to participate in a community event in November. The nonprofit launches its annual Kettle Kickoff on Nov. 21 at Modesto Centre Plaza. Mascots are being asked to join bell ringers Nov. 30 to work the signature red kettles outside area businesses. If your business, nonprofit group, sports team or school would like to join Scoopy from The Bee, please call Maj. Kyle Trimmer at (209) 522-3209 by Oct. 14. Money from the drive pays for Christmas food and children’s toys and clothing, as well as the army’s other programs, such as helping people with utility bills.

Modesto Bee is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
