Girl Scouts seek volunteer leaders

Girl Scouts of the USA kicked off its “I Can’t Wait To” national recruitment drive for adult volunteers on Monday, which includes a number of local informational events. At the Modesto regional office of the Girl Scouts Heart of Central California Council, there are 489 girls waiting to be placed in troops. “This number is constantly changing as we have new troops forming and existing troops taking girls,” said Alicia Allen, communications and public relations specialist with the council. Following are Stanislaus County recruitment nights planned over the next couple of weeks for prospective troop leaders and other volunteers:

Modesto

•  Monday, 6 p.m., Centenary Methodist Church, 1911 Toyon Ave.

•  Oct. 22, 6:30 p.m., Roosevelt Jr. High, 1330 College Ave.

•  Oct. 24, 6 p.m., Centenary Methodist Church, 1911 Toyon Ave.

Oakdale

•  Wednesday, 6 p.m., Sierra View School, 1323 E. J St.

•  Oct. 23, 6 p.m., Fair Oaks School, 151 N. Lee Ave.

Salida

•  Oct. 8, 6 p.m., Girl Scout’s Modesto regional office, 5172 Kiernan Court, Suite D

Empire

•  Oct. 16, 6 p.m., Hughes School, 512 N. McClure Road

Ceres

•  Oct. 16, 6 p.m., Virginia Parks School, 1021 Moffett Road
