Small businesses and nonprofit groups with losses related to the Rim fire can apply for loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Loans of up to $2 million are available in Tuolumne and Mariposa counties, where the quarter-million-acre fire has burned, and in the neighboring counties of Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Calaveras, Alpine and Mono.
The interest rate is 4 percent for businesses and 2.875 percent for nonprofits, with terms up to 30 years.
Agency staffers will answer questions at these sites on a few days in October:
Groveland Youth Center, 18950 Highway 120. Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, as well as Oct. 7 and 8.
Red Cloud Library, 6386 Greeley Hill Road, Coulterville. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday of this week and Oct. 9 and 10.
