— A man selling CDs in the Walmart parking lot on Plaza Parkway was pulled into a car that sped off, but he managed to escape unharmed, Modesto police said.

Two shots were fired during the incident, which occurred shortly after noon Saturday, but no injuries were reported and shoppers were not in danger, Lt. Brian Findlen said.

Witnesses told police a car with two men approached a group selling rap CDs in the parking lot. A member of the group, a man in his 30s, approached the car and the passenger grabbed a gold chain hanging around his neck, dragging him into the car, Findlen said.

A struggle ensued and the car stopped in an area between the Walmart and a neighboring store, allowing the CD seller to break free and get away, according to police. One of the would-be robbers fired into the air, police said, then both fled by car.
