More money won’t change priorities

September 28, 2013

I spent yet another morning watching our police department ticketing motorists for speeding on a six-lane stretch of McHenry Avenue with a concrete divider and a ridiculous 30 mph speed limit, and I reflected on Measure X.

We are currently No. 1 in the nation in car theft; those whose homes are violated by thieves are told to report the losses to their insurance companies, and graffiti and the ugly patchwork of painted walls are prevalent throughout our city.

I cannot help but think that more money will not change the current priorities of our leaders, and thus I cannot support Measure X.
