WATERFORD — Waterford Middle School was locked down Thursday afternoon when the Stanislaus County Sheriffs Department assisted the Paso Robles Police Department in a search for homicide suspects.
Paso Robles police have been searching for three Modesto teenagers wanted in connection with the shooting death of a 37-year-old man authorities say was targeted by his jilted ex-girlfriend. Edgar Ontiveros, 18, Louis Henry Madrigal, 19, and Alejandro Anguiano, 19, are accused of killing Victor Hugo Sanchez near his Paso Robles home in February.
Authorities said Sanchezs ex-girlfriend, Maria del Carmen Granados Fajardo, hired the men, along with David Rodriguez Hernandez, 37, of Ceres, to kidnap and beat her ex-boyfriend for $8,000.
Authorities believe Hernandez fled to Mexico, but continue to search in the United States for the Modesto teenagers. Paso Robles police Lt. Tim Murphy said officers were in Waterford searching for one of the suspects at his fathers home, which prompted the lockdown of the middle school.
When the suspects father saw police, he tried to run because he thought there was a warrant for him, Murphy said, but there wasnt. None of the homicide suspects was located.
