Club Mercedes menudo on Sundays

Club Mercedes will serve menudo every Sunday through the NFL season at the club. Doors open at 8 a.m. and close at noon or when the menudo runs out. Cost is $7 for a small bowl or $8 for a large bowl; beverages available for extra cost. No menudo Oct. 20. Call (209) 383-9906.

Young Eagle Day on Saturday

The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1401 will sponsor a Young Eagle Day with registration from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Merced Airport on Grogan Avenue. There will be free airplane rides for those ages 8 through 17. A parent or guardian must be present. Call (209) 722-6666.

Atwater Class of 1973 40th reunion

Superintendent election dinner

There will be a re-election fundraiser for Dr. Steven E. Gomes for Merced County superintendent at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Italo-American Lodge, 1351 W. 18th St. Tickets are $35 each or an event sponsor is $300 and includes pasta, salad, rolls and dessert. Merced College accepts instructor proposals

Merced College will be accepting instructor proposals for the spring 2014 classes that begin in January and run through June. Responsible Dog Owner Day

The Yosemite Kennel Club will sponsor a Responsible Dog Owner Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Merced Dog Park on Yosemite Avenue. This event is free and dogs on leashes are welcome to attend. There will be demonstrations, contests and a meet-the-breed parade. A Canine Good Citizen test will be available for $10. Women’s Club chicken salad fundraiser

The Atwater Women’s Club will host their chicken salad fundraiser, featuring Connie Corvelo’s famous chicken salad, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 11, dine-in or take-out.
