The weekly Modesto Quarterback Club meeting has been moved to Tuesday because of the Labor Day holiday.
The club will meet at noon at Coach's Corner, 950 Oakdale Road, Modesto.
One topic almost sure to come up is the overall strong showing of the Modesto Metro Conference during Week Zero the opening week of the 2013 high school football season.
The MMC went 5-2 to open the season, with Beyer, Modesto, Downey, Gregori and Davis earning big victories, while Johansen and Enochs suffered losses.
Modesto High's Tiki Tonga put on quite a show in the Panthers' 74-41 drubbing of Ceres. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound senior quarterback completed 9 of 16 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns while running the ball four times for 102 yards and another TD.
Beyer walloped West (Tracy) 57-19 as running back Jay Green carried the ball 11 times for 107 yards in his varsity debut.
"That's a pretty big leap," Patriots coach Bill Flesher said of the 5-foot-8, 160-pound sophomore. "He steps right into the varsity level coming up from freshman ball."
Beyer scored two defensive touchdowns in the victory.
Nico Tamayo, a former soccer player who was making his first-ever appearance in a football game, intercepted a pass and raced 30 yards for the score.
Defensive lineman Dennis Orzhekhovsky sacked the West quarterback, but before the QB hit the ground, Orzekhovsky ripped the ball from his grasp and then raced 25 yards for his first touchdown.
The Patriots will face Golden Valley on Friday.
