Playoff planning starts for Modesto Nuts

Once any minor league baseball team reaches the playoffs, a new front office effort begins.

Like nearly every sport, postseason tickets not only are part of the season-ticket package, there is no way to know how many playoff games the team will be playing at home and the team generally knows only a few days ahead of time that the team will be playing after the end of the regular season.

Some minor league teams actually raise prices for post-season games, while others keep them steady or even drop the cost of admission.

The Modesto Nuts once again have chosen to drop prices rather drastically, like making them free.

The Nuts have partnered with Boyett Cruisers to provide and distribute vouchers redeemable at the Nuts' ticket office for free general admission seating to all Nuts' postseason home games.

The Nuts could have as many as seven postseason home games. The best-of-three first round opens Wednesday with a 6 p.m. game at Visalia, then returns to Modesto to its conclusion. So the Nuts are guaranteed to be home this Thursday for Game 2 of the North Division mini-series, and would host Game 3 Friday if needed.

If the Nuts advance to the second round, they would play Games 1-2 in San Jose on Saturday and Sunday, then return home for Game 3-4 on Monday, Sept. 9 and Tuesday, Sept. 10. A fifth game in that series, if needed, would be played in San Jose on Sept. 11.

Should the Nuts reach the California League championship series for a second straight year, the championship will be won at Thurman Field.

The best-of-five series opens at the South Division champion with games on Thursday, Sept. 12 and Friday, Sept. 13, then would come to Modesto for games the next three days as needed.

The Cruisers locations participating in the promotion are located at 2201 Patterson Rd. Riverbank, 4000 E. Briggsmore Ave., Modesto, 4931 McHenry Ave. Modesto, and 4537 Broadway Ave., Salida.

The vouchers are upgradable to other seat locations at the Nuts' ticket office.
