Man accused of robbery and making victim strip

August 30, 2013

A man was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of robbing another man and making him take off his clothes.

The incident happened about 1 a.m. in the 800 block of Pecos Avenue, about a block east of South Ninth Street, according to Stanislaus County Sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Dirkse.

The suspect had offered the victim a ride, but stopped his car on Pecos and pointed a gun at the victim's head. He took the victim's wallet, then ordered him to take off everything but his T-shirt, Dirkse said.

The suspect left the scene in his car, and the victim ran to a nearby fire station to report the crime.

The deputy who responded to the fire station gave a description of the suspect's car over the radio, and a different deputy found it a short time later in the 1100 block of Tuolumne Boulevard, Dirkse said.

Edward Webb, 47, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of methamphetamine.
