— Ripon police officers are making use of two electric scooters donated by some local residents.

The Harris family donated two electric scooters, with accessories, valued at a total of about $3,000, to the department in July, police said.

Ripon High School resource officer Trevor McGinnis is using one of the scooters to patrol campus. Police volunteers will use the other.

The scooters will be assigned to officers and volunteers for special event patrols including the Almond Blossom Festival, the Fourth of July Celebration, Main Street Day, Taste of Ripon, and other community events, police said in a news release.
