MODESTO — Modesto will not consider a proposal from Valley Crest, its golf course maintenance company, to partner with golf management firm Kemper Sports to operate the city's Dryden and Creekside golf courses.
Instead, the city will solicit proposals from golf management firms to operate the two courses.
The City Council's Finance Committee was set to hear Valley Crest's proposal Tuesday, but city staff pulled the item from the meeting agenda.
Councilwoman and Finance Chairwoman Stephanie Burnside said that was done because of the complexity and amount of money involved. She said she had raised those concerns with city staff last week.
FM Golf operates Dryden and Creekside, but the city is canceling FM Golf's contract in October.
