Modesto area organizations seek food drive Guinness World Record

A community effort that will attempt to break a Guinness World Record for canned food donations — 30,000 cans — has already received thousands of cans.

Beneficiaries of the donated canned food are St. Joseph's St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, United Samaritans Foundation and Inter-Faith Ministries of Modesto. Final drop-off date is Sept. 8, noon to 10 p.m., at 1813 Oakdale Road, Modesto. Until then, food donations can be dropped off at five Modesto locations:
