MMC: 5 players to watch

August 28, 2013

1. Tiki Tonga, Modesto. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound senior quarterback is one of the most exciting players in the Modesto Metro Conference; should thrive in Richie Alkire's wide-open attack.

2. Tristan Best, Downey. Big (6-3, 190), strong and fast, the senior wide receiver can run all the routes, break tackles and jump over people. He'll be a force in the MMC and one of the top players in the District.

3. Shawn Munoz, Enochs. In running coach James Stacy's Pistol offense, quarterback Munoz and the Eagles should put up impressive numbers. As a sophomore, Munoz (now a junior) ran for 1,000 and passed for nearly 2,000.

4. Tyler Janitz, Gregori. This two-way star (RB, OLB) figures to be one of the best all-around football players in the MMC. Has good size (6-2, 195), but plays even bigger.

5. Niles Graham, Enochs. How can you not watch Graham, a 6-5, 315 center? Faces Merced's all-state candidate Jamell Bedford (6-0, 275) on Sept. 20. Should be a good one.
