SYLVAN TO MEET: The Sylvan Union School District board will hold a special closed-door meeting to discuss existing litigation at 6 p.m. today at the district boardroom, 605 Sylvan Ave. No details were released about the case. The brief agenda says disclosure would jeopardize existing settlement negotiations. No recent civil case filings appear in Stanislaus County Superior Court records. SUMMERVILLE TO MEET: The Summerville Union High School District board will meet at 5:30 p.m. today for a special meeting to set a priority list for spending bond proceeds. Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to consider a full agenda, including voting on a tentative pact with teachers and discussion of a technology specialist position and facility use fees. KING COMMEMORATION: Modesto High School will mark the 50th anniversary of the Martin Luther King Jr. "I Have a Dream" speech Wednesday during lunches, 10:40 to 11:15 a.m. and 11:35 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., at the flag pole in front of the school, 18 H St. The speech, given Aug. 28, 1963, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, will be repeated in its entirety with student and staff support for King's vision.
