Turlock Now: Seasonal ice rink coming to Turlock

Posted by Marijke Rowland on August 26, 2013

Turlock will have a holiday on ice this season.

The Stanislaus County Planning Commission approved a proposed ice-skating rink to be built and operated by R.A.M. Farms, which has a seasonal pumpkin patch at Daubenberger Road and Canal Drive in the fall.

Dubbed Field of Ice, the new rink was approved at the Aug. 15 county planning commission meeting. It has previously been given the OK by the Turlock Planning Commission in June.

The wintry attraction is is meant to extend the appeal and season of R.A.M. Farms annual attractions. In addition to a permanent produce stand, the business operates corn maze and has hay rides in the fall. The rink would open the day after Thanksgiving and run through January. The winter set up would include a Christmas tree lot, concession stand, temporary office and temporary restrooms.
