I toured the Turlock wastewater treatment plant, along with other area residents, guided by Dan Madden, municipal services director, who explained the structures and process and how the wastewater comes out almost crystal clear.
Although I had passed by the sewer farm many times, I had never realized it was so large and complicated and how clean and odorless the facilities are. It reminded me of my first tour of the Don Pedro Dam as a new Turlock Irrigation District board member and going into the bowels of the dam in the generating plant and being told of the workings of the dam. I felt a similar sense of awe and wonderment of what was really happening. As a ratepayer of the TID and the city of Turlock, I am so thankful that they work together benefiting each other and to the betterment of the people who live here. It is the management and dedicated employees who make it happen.
