SAN ANDREAS — A 49-year-old man from Sacramento died after his motorcycle collided head-on with a car near San Andreas.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was riding a 1983 Harley Davidson Sporster east on Lime Creek Road when the accident occurred just before 8 p.m.
The rider, whose name was not released, allowed the motorcycle to go across the center lines of the road and into the path of a 2001 Honda Civic driven by Michael Rice, 22, of Valley Springs.
The motorcyclist was ejected and landed in the middle of the road. He was wearing a helmet, but it did not meet the requirements for motorcycle helmets, which may have contributed to his fatal injuries, the CHP said.
Rice was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. He appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and may face DUI charges after results from a chemical test are returned, the CHP said.
