PATTERSON — Patterson City Council members will consider spending up to $25,000 to install and run energy-efficient lights in Felipe Garza Park.
Residents at a recent public safety meeting cited concerns over a lack of lighting at the North Hartley Street park, where a man was killed in January and a second man shot nearby in June.
Running current field lights at the park would cost more than $1,000 per week, a city staff report says.
The LED lights would involve minimal costs after the installation. Also Tuesday, the council will consider co-sponsoring an after-school program on minimum days for junior high and high school students.
The council meets in open session at 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 1 Plaza Parkway.
