Special Mass for Sisters of the Cross

August 15, 2013

— A special Mass celebrated by Bishop Stephen Blaire followed by a lunch marked the 25th anniversary of the Sisters of the Cross, the only cloistered order of nuns in the Stockton Diocese.

The sisters spend much of their time in prayer — for those who phone their convent next to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church on Maze Boulevard, for written prayers dropped off at their gate or in a large conch shell in front of the chapel altar, and for those who come seeking hope for troubled hearts.

They also pray for the diocese — the bishop, the priests and others — as well as for the city of Modesto, the state, nation and world.
