— Seven football players from The Modesto Bee’s Stanislaus District have been named to the All-Sac-Joaquin Section preseason team compiled by Cal-Hi Sports.

Named to the first-team offense were the Central Catholic duo of Spencer Stark and Kenny Smart.

Stark is a 6-foot-2, 325-pound tackle who started on last year’s CIF Division 4 championship team. Smart, a kicker who has committed to play at Harvard, was the state’s leading scorer last season with 120 points. According to Cal-Hi, he holds the state record for most PATs in a season (105). He hit his first 80 in a row before missing.

Representing the district on the second team offense were tight end Patrick Green of Turlock, lineman Tony Lopez of Merced and running back Ja’Quan Gardner of Central Valley in Ceres. Lineman Jamell Bedford (Merced) and punter Phillip Rauch (Mariposa) were named to the second-team defense.
