One man arrested, one sought in Turlock mugging

— Turlock police arrested one man Monday and are looking for another on suspicion of assaulting and robbing a man whose friend allegedly owed them money.

The victim was at Denair Park about 4 p.m. Sunday on Main Street south of Canal Drive when two men he knew approached him and convinced him to go with them to their home, said Sgt. Stephen Webb.

The men took him a few blocks away to an alley, where they physically assaulted him and took his wallet, Webb said. One brandished a gun, and both made threats to harm him if he went to police.

Webb said the victim knew the suspects because his friend recently bought a computer from them.

The suspect allegedly jumped the victim because his friend hadn't paid in full for the computer.

On Monday, Turlock police found one of the suspects in the same area in which the crime occurred, Webb said.

Frank Abbott was arrested on suspicion of robbery and making criminal threats. The second suspect is still being sought.
