Ripon schools steering group seeks volunteers

— The Ripon Unified School District has formed a community stakeholders steering committee to prepare a facilities master plan and is seeking community volunteers.

The district's boundaries stretch from the city of Ripon and the adjacent Stanislaus River northward into the Austin Road area around Manteca and east toward Escalon. Because of anticipated growth in these areas, the district said it needs to have a plan in place to address school needs.

The committee is tasked with gathering community input for a district education program. Issues include ways to address the impacts of new development on existing facilities, and identifying potential sites for future schools or support facilities with optimum sizes and available financing options.

The deadline to apply for the Facilities Master Plan Task Force is Thursday. Parents, teachers, representatives of community organizations, persons with construction and financial backgrounds and interested citizens are encouraged to apply.

Find applications at the Ripon Unified School District office at 304 N. Acacia Ave., Ripon, or download an application at http://riponusd.net. For more, call Angelica Bogetti at (209) 599-2131
