The Denair Unified School District board will meet at 5 p.m. Monday in the Denair Middle School Coyote Center, 3601 Lester Road, Denair. Trustees will consider the Office of Administrative Hearings case regarding teacher layoffs in closed session at 4 p.m., and at 5 p.m. convene in open session to consider action on the issue. In July, the board voted to lay off the equivalent of 14.78 full-time jobs, affecting about two dozen people. Normally, teachers are protected by a March 15 notification deadline, but the district said an exception for districts with flat funding gave it a grace window. The Denair Unified Teachers Union disputed that the district qualified for that window if all its funding, including money for specific programs, was included, said DUTA President Barry Cole. The Tuolumne County Board of Education will meet at 4 p.m. Monday at the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Office, 175 S. Fairview Lane, Sonora, Room 217. The board will consider a bid for a three-year propane tank rental and policies for graduation ceremonies and requirements. See the agenda at


The Stanislaus County Board of Education will meet at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Stanislaus County Office of Education board room, 1100 H St. Trustees could vote on new facility rental fees and procedures. The board will also consider seeking a waiver of maximum retiree earnings in order to hire back two retirees. See the agenda at


The Sylvan Union School District board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the district boardroom, 605 Sylvan Ave. Trustees will discuss music and art schedules, a possible reorganization of food services, a new web site layout and purchasing procedures. See the full agenda at


The Hughson Unified School District board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the district office, 6815 Hughson Avenue. Trustees will hold a public hearing and possibly vote on a switch to by-area elections. The board will also hear a report on test scores. See the agenda at


The Stanislaus Union School District board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 11 of the district office, 2410 Janna Ave. The board will report if any action was taken regarding potential litigation involving the youth center at the Muncy site. Trustees will hear updates on facilities and testing and discuss a report on student discipline showing suspensions were significantly down from the year before, but expulsions rose. The Ceres Unified School District board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the district board room, 2503 Lawrence St., Ceres. Trustees will hear a budget update and discuss changes to board policies. See the agenda at
