STANISLAUS COUNTY — Starting Monday, commuters using Stanislaus Regional Transit will see some route changes designed to improve service and encourage new workers in Patterson and Turlock to use buses to get to their jobs.
The changes were made in response to customer feedback received at several events held throughout Stanislaus County. They also were made to increase capacity on some of the routes.
The county Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the route changes at its June 11 meeting. County officials said the move will improve on-time performance on all bus routes.
The changes will expand bus service to Patterson's Keystone Business Park and the Blue Diamond Plant in Turlock. Other route improvements include better connections between StaRT routes and transit services in other counties.
Here are the bus service changes:
Route 10 (Modesto/Turlock): Additional bus trips; and a combining of bus stops to improve on-time arrivals.
Route 15 (Modesto/Ceres/Keyes/Turlock): Changes to route that include an additional trip, new running times and combined bus stops.
Route 40 (Modesto/Grayson/Westley/Patterson): Three additional trips were added to weekday service, and one trip to Saturday service. Also, running times were adjusted to improve on-time arrivals.
Route 45 (Gustine/Newman/Crows Landing/Patterson/Turlock): This route was split into two.
a) Route 45 West (Patterson/Crows Landing/Newman/ Gustine): Service to existing and new job centers in Patterson's Keystone Business District, along with changes to running times and new bus stops in the business district. The goal is to encourage employees to use transit service.
b) Route 45 East (Patterson/Turlock): Service to the new Blue Diamond Plant in Turlock, with changes to running times.
Route 60 (Modesto/ Riverbank/Oakdale): Additional trips to weekday and Saturday service. Also, running time changes.
Waterford/Modesto Runabout (Modesto/Empire/Hughson/Waterford): additional trips.
Eastside Shuttle (Modesto/Riverbank/Oak- dale): Curb-to-curb service will be provided on Saturdays in Riverbank and Oakdale. An additional bus was added to increase capacity during peak periods.
Oakdale Dial-A-Ride: A new curb-to-curb service will be started to serve residents in Oakdale.
Riverbank Dial-A-Ride: A new curb-to-curb service will be started to serve residents in Riverbank.
There are no changes planned for Route 70, the curb-to-curb dial-a-ride service in Newman, Patterson and Waterford. Also, there are no changes planned for the nonemergency medical transportation service, which serves Bay Area medical centers.
