16 DUI arrests made in Modesto area Saturday

— An Impaired Driving Enforcement and Apprehension operation conducted Saturday in the Modesto area by the California Highway Patrol resulted in the arrest of 16 alcohol- or drug-impaired drivers, according to a news release.

In addition, 16 citations were issued for moving violations such as speeding, failing to wear a seat belt and driving without a license.

Drivers caught driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes and other costs that can exceed $10,000.
