Our View: Ruth Sesser left legacy of caring in Stanislaus County

July 29, 2013

We want to acknowledge the passing of Ruth Sesser, who was key in the creation of at least three local nonprofits that have helped thousands of people over the years.

Sesser died this month in Sacramento at age 95.

She founded or helped to establish Inter-Faith Ministries, which provides food, clothing and other assistance to the poor; the Modesto Center for Senior Employment; and, in 1989, with her late husband, Charles, she launched the Stanislaus chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

Hers was a remarkable legacy of giving and leadership, and Stanislaus County is a better place today because of her.
