DUI checkpoints set tonight, Saturday in Modesto

July 25, 2013

— Police will look for drunken drivers at a sobriety checkpoint tonight (Friday, July 26) at an undisclosed location in Modesto.

Officers also will look for drivers without valid licenses at the checkpoint, according to Modesto police.

The department will deploy saturation patrols Saturday night.

The patrols are conducted by officers assigned solely to look for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Police said those arrested face jail time, loss of their licenses and increased insurance rates.

The checkpoints are funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety.
