Seek justice for Trayvon Martin via proper channels

July 23, 2013

After the unfortunate killing of Trayvon Martin, the president made a comment that in my opinion was not appropriate. He said: "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon." What about George Zimmerman? If he had a son, couldn't he look like George?

The president's remark seem to favor Trayvon. Maybe this was not his intention because to his credit he also said, "It is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this." Apparently he didn't wait for the investigation. It is sad and irresponsible when people are convicted in the court of public opinion before they have their day in court.

In regards to the verdict: If people believe justice was not done, they should follow the proper legal channels to seek justice. But there is a point where we just have to accept the outcome.

We can try to improve our justice system and our laws, but the bottom line is that it is not perfect. The ultimate judge is God. Before God the whole truth will be revealed. Don't let anything divide us. We are all brothers and sisters. Love and harmony never fail.
