Lasting memory for Mistlin Honda in Modesto

July 23, 2013

July 20th was a very important day for Mistlin Honda.

I started business in Modesto on July 20, 1964, largely with the help of a large loan from Bank of America. We also had to borrow on our life insurance and use every penny of our life savings. One bad month and we would have lost everything.

In 1967, there was a chance to buy the property at 3120 McHenry Ave. and once again the Bank of America stepped up with another loan of the same amount as the first loan.

On July 20, 1969, a Sunday, the bank opened so I could pay off both loans. They served champagne, did the paperwork to make us debt free, our astronauts walked on the moon and we went out to dinner.

A memory to last for us.
