Healthy Communities looking for members

July 22, 2013

— The Building Healthy Communities: Southwest Merced-East Merced County Hub is seeking representatives from the communities of Planada and Le Grand to sit on its committee.

The organization is also looking for youth representatives — from 16 to 23 years old — from the Beachwood-Franklin, Planada and Le Grand communities.

Hub committee members are considered the ambassadors for the Health Happens Here campaigns: Health Happens in Neighborhoods, Health Happens in Schools and Health Happens with Prevention, according to organizers.

Hub manager Tatiana Vizcaino-Stewart notes that the committee supports organizations, individuals, agencies, government and community groups that work together on common goals.

The committee works closely with a group of youth, adult residents, organizational leaders, government leaders and others to support the efforts of Building Healthy Communities, organizers said.

Applications are available online and at the United Way office at 658 W. Main Street, Merced. BHC Hub staff can also email applications upon request to to Jordan@unitedwaymerced.org.
