Denair educator appointed to state panel

— Mary Jones, interim deputy superintendent for the Denair Unified School District, has been appointed to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing by Gov. Jerry Brown.

Jones, 61, of Merced has been an instructor at Brandman University since 2009 and has served in multiple positions for the Ceres Unified School District, retiring this year as deputy superintendent.

She holds a doctor of education degree in organization and leadership.

This position requires Senate confirmation, and there is no compensation.
