Offended at age profiling

July 18, 2013

While reading the column by Dick Hagerty I find it very difficult not to respond, because I feel offended. Test all drivers 60 and over? Is he suggesting that people over 60 are worse drivers than, let's say, an 18-year-old or a 40-year-old?

I would hope that Hagerty doesn't think he has the privilege to profile those over 60, because he does not. But here's some good advice to him: Please don't confuse my driving skills with yours because we are roughly the same age, because that's pretty close to, once again, profiling.

Also, for your information, I know very well what the laws are once I enter a roundabout. From what I have experienced driving in Modesto recently, that's better than 80 percent of the drivers I encounter in roundabouts, regardless of their age.
