Bees complicate firefighters' work in Modesto

local@modbee.comJuly 14, 2013

— When a small house in the back of a property in the 1700 block of Denver Street in Modesto caught fire Sunday morning, a swarm of bees got angry.

A few live electrical wires were knocked down, and a Modesto fire engineer suffered a bee sting, according to incident commander Brian Degiere.

The flames were extinguished quickly, and the home’s residents were not hurt. The bees had been in a box on the property. The fire started in a lean-to addition to the home.
