Removing God not what Founding Fathers had in mind

July 14, 2013

We have just finished celebrating our great national holiday, the Fourth of July. I wonder if the Founding Fathers who penned the Declaration of Independence must be wondering, "What in the world happened to our beloved country?"

One only has to read the document to realize that they had relied on God, the Creator, to bless the nation they were forming. But no, some 220 years later, we have rejected the foundation of our culture that has traditionally held us together.

Prayers have been excised from schools, suits have been filed to force Congress to remove "under God" from the pledge of allegiance, displays of the Ten Commandments have been removed from public buildings, etc. God has been replaced by science and the church has become secularized. As a result, crime has become rampant.

America has "sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind" (Hosea 8:7). It's time we return to our godly foundation.
