'Moral prejudice has no place' in our world

July 13, 2013

As I skimmed through last Sunday's paper I was not surprised to come upon some nasty, misinformed, stupid and mean-spirited letters from some of my fellow citizens of the valley.

One question to these high and mighty folks: How does gay marriage and the rights and benefits that come with it really affect you?

This is the 21st century, people; many countries have passed gay marriage laws and so far there has been no anarchy over it. Look at the issues that bring countries to riot. Is gay marriage tops on the list? No. It seems that other issues like the economy, religion and despotism take center stage.

How does this really affect you? Will the world end because of it? No. In this day and age we should all be getting along; moral prejudice really has no place in a civilized world.
