SNELLING — More than 120 vintage cars and trucks are expected at Henderson Park on Sunday for a car show being held in conjunction with the 57th annual Snelling Homecoming Deep Pit Barbecue.
The Yosemite Corvette Club is staging its fifth annual car show. Becky Anderson, club secretary, expects 120 or more vintage vehicles of all descriptions to be parked on the ball field grass at Henderson Park.
Last year's event attracted 105 cars while 2010 and 2011 events had 91 and 95 cars respectively. Seventy vehicles attended the inaugural 2009 event. The club has raised about $5,200 for Snelling causes since the event began, Anderson said.
In past years proceeds from the event have gone for building restoration in Snelling and this year's proceeds will go to the volunteer fire department.
Anderson said Corvettes, hot rods, customs and classics all are welcome. The barbecue will be served from noon to 3 p.m., with the price set at $8 for adults and $4 for children under age 12.
