TURLOCK — Compliance checks at two Turlock massage parlors this week resulted in a variety of citations and an ongoing investigation into prostitution.
Inspections at Wellness Massage on Geer Road and Gold Bath Massage on Fulkerth Road were the first in a series of operations planned to address increasing reports of prostitution at these types of businesses.
On Wednesday, Turlock police detectives went to the businesses along with agents from the Employment Development Department and the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement, as well as the Turlock fire marshal and building inspector.
After inspections and interviews with employees, owners and clients, five citations were issued between the two businesses, according to officer Mayra Lewis. Violations include failing to keep records of treatments, employing unlicensed masseuses, and various fire and building code violations. The investigation into vice activity is ongoing.
The Turlock Police Department plans more of these types of operations, Lewis said.
The Turlock Police Department is an active participant in the Crime Stoppers program. Callers can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636 and may be eligible for a reward.
