Spend Modesto tax increase on treatment, not cops

July 9, 2013

The biggest problem in Modesto is the sickness of drugs.

There isn't any affordable place they can go for treatment. Most don't have a job, therefore they don't have money. Some are homeless; they need a free place to go for treatment, instead of jail.

Take the tax increase for more police and use it for treating the sick in these places.

I'm sure crime would go down in Modesto — stealing cars, property damage, families torn apart and children being abused. We wouldn't need more police if we could just help half of the drug problems. Drugs are the very worst for the people who are on them and their loved ones. We should treat it like all other illnesses and get help for them with a tax increase for their help and wipe out drug problems in Modesto.
