Don't have kids you can't afford

July 8, 2013

In reference to the July 3 cartoon about the high "U.S. medical costs to deliver a baby": This is what kept most people from having babies (or too many babies) 40-plus years ago.

We only had as many children as we could afford (out of our own pockets). Now the flood gates are open and who cares, when the government will pay for everything and people will not take personal responsibility for limiting their families.

No one wants to talk about serious birth control, even when young people who are yet to be fully emotionally developed are having children and often left without skills to pursue productive employment and a meaningful future.

With all the birth control options today, there is no excuse for "accidental" pregnancies.

Anybody else miss the days when taxes went for outstanding schools, new books, paper, art, drama, libraries open morning until night, free parks and museums?
