38 DUI busts in Stanislaus holiday crackdown

local@modbee.comJuly 7, 2013

— Thirty-eight people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence during the Independence Day weekend DUI crackdown in Stanislaus County.

From 12:01 a.m. Wednesday to midnight Saturday, officers representing 12 law enforcement agencies conducted saturation patrols to target drunk driving.

The patrols continued Sunday in Ceres and Modesto.

Additionally, the California Highway Patrol throughout the state had all available officers patrolling freeways and county roads through the holiday weekend for the maximum enforcement period.

Motorists are encouraged to call 911 to report drunk drivers.

Funding for the Avoid the 12 program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
