Stanislaus County has announced the following "cool zones," places where people can escape the heat over the next couple of days.

MODESTO

• The Salvation Army cooling center, 320 Ninth St. — noon to 4 p.m. today and Friday

• Modesto library, 1500 I St. — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

• Senior Center, 211 Bodem St. — 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday

• Maddux Youth Center, 615 Sierra Drive — 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday

• King-Kennedy Memorial Center, 601 S. Martin Luther King Drive — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday

• McHenry Museum, 1402 I St. — noon to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday

CERES

• Community Center, 2701 Fourth St. — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

• Library, 2250 Magnolia — noon to 5 p.m. Saturday

DENAIR

• Library, 4801 Kersey Road — 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

EMPIRE

• Empire Pool, 10 I St. — Friday through Sunday; see http://stancopal.org/aquatics for times and cost.

• Library, 18 S. Abbie St. — 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

HUGHSON

• Library, 2412-A Third St. — 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

NEWMAN

• Library, 1305 Kern St. — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday

OAKDALE

• City Annex Building, 280 E. E St., noon to 8 p.m. today

• Library, 151 S. First St. — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

PATTERSON

• Hammond Senior Center, 1033 W. Las Palmas Ave., 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Friday (pet-friendly)

• City Hall — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday

• Library, 46 N. Salado — noon to 5 p.m. Saturday

RIVERBANK

• Pool, Seventh and Stanislaus streets — 1 to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Cost: $2.25 for 18 and older, $1.75 for children

• Library, 3442 Santa Fe St. — noon to 5 p.m. Saturday

SALIDA

• Library, 4835 Sisk Road — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

TURLOCK

• Broadway Park water feature, 501 N. Broadway, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily

• Columbia Park water feature, 600 Columbia St., 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today

• Columbia Park pool, 12:15 to 2:30 p.m. today, noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Cost is $2 adults, $1 children ages 4-17. Children must be at least 8 unless accompanied by an adult.

• Homeless Assistance, 1030 East Ave. — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m daily

• Library, 550 Minaret Ave. — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday

WATERFORD

• City Hall — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday

• Library, 324 E. St. — noon to 5 p.m. Saturday
